We use to provide pre-priced seo packages. This is a common thing to see from companies and it is also somewhat damaging.The reason is that one website is not the same as any other.

Take a travel site for a specific county, it will have dozens of pages with information on different locations and various trip packages. Now take a local Chiropractor who has a basic site with an About Us page, Contact Us page and maybe a Services and maybe a Techniques page. The travel site is going to benefit much more from having all the additional content pages and can have more optimization done to get each of those pages ready while the Chiropractor site may only have 5 pages with very little content so will not have nearly as much on page optimization required.

Now if I said I will perform basic SEO on your site for $500 and it will include 5 keywords and the keyword research, on page optimization for 5 pages and some link building and maybe some free credit to run some PPC ads that is going to work totally different from each site. Both are paying for the same thing but the Travel site has much more content that could have work done on it and the Chiropractor will not necessarily need every page optimized. The PPC could do wonders for the Chiropractor in driving customers and for that reason maybe an altered package would be better where we start with a site review and then do PPC to see what works and what does not work in regards to keywords driving traffic that convert customers. The travel site will benefit much more from its information pages on all the different locations and events and having all those pages optimized would bring more traffic to their site so we would want to focus more on getting the site optimized for that customer. This is why the one package fits all route does not always work out.
